Harrison West
Harrison West is an historic, urban neighborhood located northwest of downtown Columbus. It sits on several-blocks along the Olentangy River. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The character of the neighborhood is similar to Victorian Village, which sits just to the east and is a little more well-known.
Because the neighborhood is ideally situated between Ohio State University and downtown, In recent years, the area has seen an explosion of new residential growth, including single family homes, townhomes and condos. Many are adjacent to Harrison Park, a quiet Riverfront park with play equipment, grassy fields, a trail, plus benches and picnic tables.
The Olentangy River runs through the neighborhood providing access to the Olentangy Recreation Trail, which stretches from downtown Columbus to north of I-270 in Worthington.
The Third Avenue business district also boasts several excellent restaurants and cafes including Katalina’s and Saucy Brew Works.
While not directly in Harrison West, there are many entertainment spots within walking distance of the neighborhood. These include The Short North Arts & Entertainment District; Goodale Park, home to many events including the Comfest music & arts festival; and the Arena District where you’ll find Nationwide Arena, home to the Columbus Blue Jackets and the brand new Columbus Crew Stadium, home to our championship soccer team, the Columbus Crew.
